Patchworks Farm is a way to invest in kids
working to create a sustainable future.
Our mission and vision reflect a growing realization
that we best address the needs of the underserved and disadvantaged by creating avenues to sustainability which will benefit
everyone and create a culture of social and environmental justice and peace. It all hinges on harnessing local resources
for our sustenance, an action which we believe is the best path to our long term survival and the well being of all living
things.
In order to strengthen our mission and purpose, we are joining forces with local schools, other community
based non-profits and local farms to create a "service learning collaborative" focused on educating toward a sustainable
future.
We are expanding Patchworks Farm to become an outdoor laboratory which will stand as a model of what
a sustainable society would look like. Our central concerns will be issues of localizing our food, energy, water usage
and shelter. It will be guided by the collaborative, but created from the imagination and hard work of students in grades
k-12. We are in business to help them create a future blessed with hope, empowerment, and lasting peace.
